Essential Oils as Antimicrobials

The disinfectant effect of essential oils has been known to medical science since the late 19 th century. Researchers at Georgetown University have confirmed the “in vitro” disinfectant properties of numerous essential oils. Oil of oregano and essential oil blends including oregano have shown disinfectant properties against several pathogenic microbes including Escherichia coli, klebsiella pheumoniae, Helicobacter pylori, bacillus anthracis and various forms of staphylococcus and fungi including Candida species and even viruses.

Most recently, a blend of oregano oil and other related herbs called Oregacyn P73 was found to eliminate the corona virus, thought to be the pathogen involved in Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in cell culture experiments.

There is promising early evidence that oil of oregano alone or in combination with other essential oils can reduce Hepatitis C viral titers and down-regulate liver enzymes. Physicians are beginning to use them as they become aware of research findings.

Sytrinol – Healthy Cholesterol Levels Naturally

The leading cause of death in America is cardiovascular disease ( CVD) and the costs incurred in treating this pandemic are enormous. Total cholesterol level (TC) is the most widely used marker for predicting the risk of CVD.3.

The American Heart Association has recommended that individuals maintain low levels of LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol, as it may be a causative factor in CVD. The current research indicates that LDL tends to cling to the inside surfaces of blood vessels causing them to narrow and increasing the likelihood of arterial blockage, a main contributing factor to most heart attacks and strokes. Currently we have both nutritional and pharmaceutical solutions to this problem, but both have flaws. They are either not effective enough to cause a big enough change to significantly impact health, or they are too effective and cause unwanted side effects due to their strong action in the body.

Now there is a new, effective and gently alternative. Sytrinol™ is patented complex of polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs) to cotrienols which has been demonstrated to significantly lower cholesterol levels without negative side effects. Sytrinol™ has been shown to affect the endogenous (within the body) synthesis of cholesterol. It is the endogenous cholesterol that accounts for over two thirds of the body’s total cholesterol, which is why it is very important to slow the body’s cholesterol synthesis instead of blocking the absorption of cholesterol that has been consumed through diet.

The PMF’s (predominantly tangeretin and nobiletin) in Sytrinol™ have been extracted from dried fruits and orange peels. Tangeretin has been shown to decrease the levels of apoprotein B (apo-B), which is necessary for the body to produce LDL.

Tocotrienols are relatively new forms of Vitamin E. They serve a very real and different purpose in the body than the d-alpha-tocopheryl form of Vitamin E we are used to.

Studies have shown HMG-CoA reductase to be the rate limiting enzyme in the production of cholesterol synthesis. This is the function of the very popular statin drugs. But, statin drugs can have very severe side effects.

Tocotrienols work in a very similar manner to statins. However, rather than block the formation of the enzyme, they degrade it. This leads to the lowering of cholesterol without the harmful side effects of the statin drugs.

Well tolerated in all the clinical studies, Sytrinol™ showed no changes in BMI (body mass index) and blood pressure from the baseline established at the beginning of the studies.

The claims made for Sytrinol™ are based on human clinical trails. To date there have been three such trials all using the same dose of Sytrinol™ on people with moderately elevated cholesterol. A placebo control has been used as well to verify the effects of the compounds. Since clinical results are only as good as the ability to replicate the study, Sytrinol™ is the cutting-edge of nutraceuticals to manage heart health.
